Episode 1:
DNA Café

Originally part of The Daily franchise, DNA Café is a neighbourhood coffee shop in the Cape Town suburb of Kuils River. No longer part of the franchise, the owners found themselves with no brand identity and needed a unique style to reflect its menu and create a novel experience for patrons.

About the Restaurant

As part of DNA Cafe’s makeover, all the restaurant seating was reupholstered to match the colour palette of neutral tones highlighted by accents of brick red and teal. FibreGuard was used throughout the eatery to ensure the owners could focus on providing Cape soul food and enjoy easy cleaning.

The Inspiration

The main inspiration came from a flower producer who preserves hydrangeas. With a vivid colour palette, it creates quite a focal point. The deep rosey-pink, red on the wood panels were picked from the hydrangea colour palette, for a warm and inviting canvas for all the beautiful textures of the fabrics.
